1001  Pair of Disraeli Staffordshire Spaniels

All Disraeli Spaniels are rare and valuable. The Disraeli Spaniels were named after Queen Victoria's prime minister, Benjamin Disraeli.  Characteristic curls are on the forehead and repeated on the back of the head.  Muzzle area is painted in the light pink with excellent detail.  The Spaniel are 13" tall and  9 1/2" wide      The condition is excellent. England 1850-1850.

Hen on Nest

This is a large Staffordshire "Hen on Nest" Tureen. It  is a Hen on a yellow gold woven basket.  There is exceptional  detail on the hen .  There is  an array of orange and rust  colors on the tail and side feathers  and a green trim around the base.  There is also black, white and feathered white trim.  The head is finely detailed and has exceptional trim.. Figure is 8 1/2" Long  7" High   Condition is excellent.  England, 1860

This pair of Red and White Spaniels  have  a curled tail and fine modeling and feathering.  The snout is pink with very fine painting.  The center of the snout is black in the shape of a heart.  There is a gold collar and a padlock and chain.  The Dogs are 12" high and condition is excellent.  England, c.1860

This is a pair of seated Poodles.  Each Poodle has two Pups and is seated on a cobalt blue base with gold trim.  Please refer to Staffordshire  Figures (1835-1870} by A. & N. This is a Staffordshire "Hen on Nest" Tureen. It  is a Hen on a orange gold woven basket.  There is excellent detail on the Hen with green and yellow around the base and six eggs. There is black and white detail on the side and tail feathers.  The head is finely detailed and has vibrant red trim. Figure is 10" Long,  7" Wide and 7 3/4" High.  Condition is excellent.  England, 1860

This young milkmaid is standing beneath an arch and holding a milk pitcher.  A grazing cow is to her right.  The spill vase is a soft pink on the outside and the interior is orange.  The figure is 9" high and condition is good.  England, 1850

Sheep Around the Clock

This group depicts three sheep around a clock face, one standing above and two seated below. There are three clumps of berries with green leaves. around the clock.   Figure is 8 1/2" High and condition is excellent. This Staffordshire  porcellaneous Parrot is 4 3/4" High.  It has no chips, or repairs and is an unusual Staffordshire  Piece.  Like many of our newer pieces,  it came back to England one week ago from an extensive collection that has been in India for many years.  Its welcome fresh pieces to the market.

This is a miniature figure depicting a Boy seated on a  red & white Spaniel. The back of the figure shows the Boy's arm around the Dog.  The Boy is wearing a green jacket, yellow vest and pink trousers.  These figures may have been given away at fairs as prizes. The figure is 2 1/2" High.  Please refer to Staffordshire Spaniels by Adele Kenny, p. 105  England, 1850-1860.

This is a large Staffordshire "Hen on Nest" Tureen. It  is a Hen on a white  woven basket with gold trim.  There is exceptional  detail on the hen .  There is  an array of brown colors on the tail and side feathers  and a green trim around the base.   The head is finely detailed and with an exceptional red comb. This a pair of gilt seated spaniels, to the back forming spill vases. These are the only recorded Conforter dogs with spill vases , although there are others with different breeds.  Condition is good and they are 13 1/2" high and 6 3/4" wide. England, 1880

 

1032 Girl and Dog                                                          This  is a figure of a large red and white Spaniel on a molded grape and vine leaf base.  A girl is sitting on the dog's back with a bird perched on her shoulder.  The figure is 9" high.  Refer to A. & N.
