Preble, Barron,  Little and Barry. The view was taken from a drawing by R. Penniman The  drawing was later published  by Abel Bowen in 1816. Washington Standing At Tomb Scroll In Hand, Creamer

This view depicts George Washington Standing At Tomb, Scroll in Hand. The view was taken from a drawing by Charles Buxton and published by Charles Smith 1798.The title of the engraving was ”The Bowling Green Washington”. The view shows Washington standing on a pedestal, with a black urn nearby.  In the background, English ships carrying soldiers  can be seen leaving New York.  The creamer is 6” long from handle to spout and 51/2” high.  The creamer has a floral border, condition is excellent and the potter was Enoch Wood & Sons 1818-1846.

The Nahant Hotel, Plate

This Plate depicts a view of the "The Nahant Hotel  the  most popular resort in the Boston area. The view was taken from a drawing by J.R. Penniman, which was published in1825.  The Hotel was  a stone structure built in 1820. the hotel had 100 rooms The elite came to the Hotel  in horse drawn vehicles. The poorer people used a small steamboat called the Eagle. Plate is dark blue and is 8 3/4"in diameter. The condition of the plate is excellent and has a Spread Eagle Border . Commodore Mac Donnough's Victory
on Lake Champlain

This creamer depicts Commodore  Mac Donnough's Victory on Lake Champlain  over the English on September 11.1814  (that date again). The battle began at sunrise and the English  were defeated after a two hour battle.  The source of this view is a painting by H. Reinagle, which was engraved by B. Tanner and published in July 1816. The creamer is 6" long and is 3 1/2"wide and 5 1/2" high.  The creamer has a  flower and shell  border and  an irregular center. The creamer was potted by Enoch Wood and Sons in the early 1828.

Fall of Montmorenci Near Quebec Plate

This plate depicts the Fall of Montmorenci near Quebec which was a picture published in 1831 by P..& W. Ruthven and described as the "most magnificent object of the Province".  The stream of water is about twenty-five yards wide and flowed over an almost perpendicular cliff into a basin some eighty feet below.  The present Fall is unchanged from that of earlier days.  The plate is 8 1/2" in diameter and has a shell border.  Color is a deep blue and transfer is crisp. Marine Hospital Plate

This plate depicts the Marine Hospital in Louisville KY. The original source of this view has not been found. An engraving of the view was published in 1850. The Hospital was built in 1820 for the purpose of  providing care to sailors and marines who worked the nearby water ways. The plate has a shell border and  an irregular center.  The plate is 9" in diameter. The Enoch Wood impressed mark is shown on the reverse. This plate is entitled "Fair Mount Near Philadelphia" It depicts the grounds around the Water Works on the Schuylkill River. The source of the view is Drawings by T. Doughty, which were engraved by J. Cone and published in 1828. Trees and buildings are in the background and a man and woman are in the foreground. Border is Spread Eagles amid flowers and scrolls. This plate depicts the Bank 0f The United States in Philadelphia. The source of the view was taken  from drawings by W Birch, who  published the  drawings in 1800. The bank was constructed between 1795 and 1798 and became the  Girard Bank in 1812 The plate is 10" in diameter and is in proof condition. The border has flowers and has four spread eagles within the border. The maker of the plate is Joseph Stubbs, and has a printed and impressed mark on the reverse, ca. 1820.1830

This plate is one of the five patterns in the Cupid Series. It is entitled "Cupid Imprisoned" The plate is a brilliant shade of dark blue and is 9 inches in diameter. The plate is by Enoch Wood & Sons, Burslem, England and was produced in the period between 1820-1830. This Creamer depicts Lafayette sitting at Franklin's Tomb in Philadelphia   This view was taken from drawings by D. W. Jackson.  The Tomb is in the foreground, surrounded by flowers and bushes.  The Urn sits on a pedestal  which is marked Franklin.  A ship  and building with pillars below and a dome above can be seen in the background. The Creamer is 5 1/2" long, 3" wide and is 5 1/2 " high. Shell Pattern Dinner Plate

This is a 10"plate with the impressed mark of Stubbs and Kent, Longport.  They worked together briefly from 1828-1830 and  pieces with their mark are rare and very collectable. There is a shell in the well and the border has flowers and three medallions. This plate has a deep blue color  and the condition is excellent

Transylvania University  Plate

This plate depicts the Transylvania University Building in Lexington  KY. The source of this view is a drawing by Matthew Harris Jouett  which was engraved by E.G. Gridley. The  University dates back to1783 and in 1788 was moved from Danville to Lexington Kentucky.  The University became a part of the University of Kentucky in 1865. The building was constructed in Danville in1818 and burned in 1829. The view shows the University Building in the background and a large campus in the foreground. A couple with a dog is shown walking in the campus area. The plate is in excellent condition with some wear on the inner rim and is 9 1/8" in diameter. The plate has a shell border and circular center. The Enoch Wood and Sons impressed mark is shown on the reverse. The plate also has the eagle stamp mark with the name of the view shown within the stamp ca: 1818 1845.

Liverpool Pitcher   

This Liverpool Pitcher depicts Peace, Plenty and Independence on one side.  On the other side is a Washington Monument, encircled by the names of the thirteen states.  The Masonic Symbol is above the picture of Washington.  On the left side is imprinted, " First in War, First in Peace"..   On the right side is imprinted " First in Fame".  Beneath the spout is an Eagle with thirteen stars above and E Pluribus Unum below. The Pitcher is 10 inches High.  England 1820-1830.

This Plate depicts a three story building with sheep on the lawn in the foreground. The view here is one of ten different views which are used in this series. The images of George and Martha Washington are shown on the left, while Liberty is shown on the right. The words America and Independence are shown  below the lawn. The names of fifteen states are shown in festoons separated by five point stars. It is part of the "America and Independence Series". The plate is 8 3/4 " in diameter. It is considered to be the most important building facing the Boston Common. The gilded dome was visible far out in the Harbor. The State House is shown in the rear. There are three cows in the foreground with one standing and facing right. Enoch Wood has a similar view but the standing cow faces left. The cup and saucer are in condition is in mint. This Custard Cup depicts the Boston State House. The source of the view is a sketch by Dobbins entitled Boston Common in 1804. The Swan Cup & Saucer

This is a most unusual cup & Saucer depicting a swan at rest.  The colors range from a dark blue to various shades of light blue.  The border has a series of two graceful geometric designs which suggest foliage.  There are three flowers beneath the swan.  Maker is unknown.  The saucer is 5 3/4 in. in diameter and the top of the cup is 3 3/4 in. in diameter.  Fruit and Flowers is one of the most popular of all patterns of dark blue to be collected as a set intended for use.  This plate is a brilliant and dark color with a good transfer and a clear and heavy glaze.  In the center well is the fruit surrounded by the flowers.  The border consists of flowers and a most interesting stylized design, which is seen on pieces by Stubbs and Kent.  The platter is 14 ½ inches long and 12 inches wide inches and condition is brilliant mint.  Stubbs, Longport is impressed on the back.  We think that this is a Stubbs and Kent Platter because of the stylized design in the border.

A View of the City of Baltimore 

This Drainer depicts a View of  Baltimore from the Harbor.  This sketch shows two flagstaffs rising from a small wharf in the foreground, from which banners float, one of them displaying an anchor and the other the letter B.  The waterfront of the City may be seen with rows of regular buildings lining the streets and here and there a church spire.  Lafayette considered Baltimore one of  the most handsome cities in the Union.  The Drainer is 12 1/4 " long and 9" wide.  condition is excellent.  Thomas Godwin, England, 1840.

Dr. Syntax Disputing His Bill 

This Plate depicts Dr. Syntax, after spending the night at the inn,  becoming angry at the amount of his bill, and is seen presenting a large scroll to the Landlady. The Landlady becomes very argumentative. The border is made up of flowers and scrolls. This plate is one of a series of 32 plates pertaining to  the various tours of Dr. Syntax. The plate is 10" in diameter and the condition is proof. The plate has the  Clews incised mark. England 1830

Three Historic Scenes, Cup &  Saucer  

There are three different scenes depicted on this Cup & Saucer Set.  The saucer shows the Court House, Boston while the Cup depicts Columbia College, New York on one side and the Octagon Church, Boston on the other side. Condition is excellent and while the maker is not known, the origin is England, 1835-1850.
