Cricket Game
This
Cricket Game Plate is 6 1/2" in Diameter and is monochrome
in brown and white. Condition is excellent with some very light
discoloration. Refer to :A Collectors Guide to ABC Plates

p. 199, 2-2. Color and size are not the same.

Titmouse ABC Plate
The Tit mouse Plate has a picture of two Tit mouse birds. The
plate is monochrome showing red, white, yellow, blue, black
and green colors. The plate is 7 1/4" in diameter and is in
excellent condition. The plate is marked on the reverse side as
follows, Rd No 154, B. P. C. Turnstall, England. There is
also an impressed mark. The Maker of the plate was the Brown Hills
Pottery. The Rd No. 154 indicates the plate was made in

Franklin's
Proverbs
This ABC plate reads as follows "Three removes are as bad as
a fire, A rolling stone gathers no moss" Scene is a women in
a carriage drawn by two horses talking to a man in the village
square. The ABC's are embossed on the outer edge. inside a red
line. Condition is Very Good except for the words "as bad" have
some smudging. The plate is 7" in diameter. J & L Meakin
(impressed mark), England, 1890

ABC Sign Language Plate
This ABC
Plate depicts a little Dutch Boy kissing a little Dutch Girl with
another child looking on. The plate is 6" in diameter and the
standard alphabet is embossed on the outside. An illustration
encircled by the entire sign letter alphabet is transferred in green
in the center. The signs for "good" and "bad" are between the
signs for A and Z. A. Aynsley & Co., Longton, England.

and Keeper
Plate
has elaborate embossing around the outer rim outlined by a red
border. The elephant, wearing a yellow harness, is standing next
to his keeper. Palm trees are in the background. Condition is
Very Good, Item is 5 1/2" in Diameter. England, 1880-1890.

Blind Girl
The
Blind Girl is sitting with an open book on her lap and a yellow
basket next to her on the ground. A man is standing behind her
and two children are to her right and looking at her. Condition
is Very Good. The Plate is 6" in Diameter. England,

The
Guardian
The
plate pictures a young girl sleeping under a tree.
Her dog has his paw around her as her Guardian. The ABC's are
embossed around the outer edge, inside a green line Black, White,
Blue and Green. Condition is very good with some very minor
crazing and a spot of roughness less the 1/2" on outer edge,
which is not visible from the top. The plate is 8" in

This
plate depicts two small girls, one with a rake and one with
a watering can. They are working in a garden with flowers.
The plate is 7 1/2" and is in very good condition with
no chips, cracks, etc. The back is Marked C. Allerton &
Sons, England and has the Rd No. 153253. The color is brown
but it is otherwise the plate on page. 37 in the book, ABC Plates
& Mugs by Irene & Ralph Linsay. |

This
plate pictures a Horse Head in what appears to be a circular meadow
frame. Color and transfer are crisp. The plate
is 7 1/4" in Diameter and the condition is excellent.
The plate was made by W. Adams & Co., Tunstall, England.

or Conundrum Plate
This
is an ABC Riddle Plate. It is # 6 in a series of 5 plates.
It asks, "Why Is This Geometrical Fishing?" Answer
is on the bottom and should reads as follows "Because
It Is A Triangle". However, it reads,"A Pear=(Pair)
Plate is 6" in Diameter. Condition is excellent.

This
Nursery Plate has an embossed border in keeping with its age.
It is entitled, " The Effects of the Bottle."
It is Plate #1 of a series. It also reads, "The Liquor
is Brought Out For The First Time". The bottom caption
reads: "The Journeyman Urges The Apprentice Just to
Take A Drop" Color and transfer are crisp.
Plate is 8" in Diameter. Condition is excellent.

Flowergirl
This
Mug is decorated with a spray of flowers tied with a blue ribbon.
The word Flowergirl is printed in gold letters on the front
and the name Judy is in gold letters on the back. There
is embossing beneath the top rim and above the base. Cup
is 2 1/2" High and the condition is excellent.

Teaching Teddy Bear
This
Mug depicts a Teaching Teddy Bear seated in a chair on a platform.
He is wearing plaid trousers and a blue waistcoat with yellow
trim. He is holding a pointer and has an open book at his
feet. Four Teddy Bear Students are facing him. The
cup is 2 1/2" High. Condition is excellent with the
exception of a small firing fault under the glaze.

This
Child's Mug has the words "For a Good Boy" written in
gold letters on the front. It is decorated with pink
flowers and green leaves. It has a line of gold trim on the outside
under the rim. The cup is 2 1/2" high and condition is excellent.

Richard's Maxim'
This
Poor Richard's Maxim's ABC Plate has "Three Removes are as
Bad as a Fire and A Rolling Stone Gathers No Moss"
printed under the picture. Over the picture is printed
"I never saw an oft removed tree nor yet an oft removed family
that did so well as a tree that settled" Some blurring
to the second saying. The plate is 5" in Diameter.

Plate "A TIMELY RESCUE" This
ABC Plate is titled "A TIMELY RESCUE" It pictures
a Soldier with a hatchet raised over his head fending off a Tiger.
Sitting on the ground behind the Soldier is the woman being rescued.
The plate has the ABC's embossed around the outer edge. Condition
is very good with no chips or cracks. The plate is 6 3/4"
in diameter and marked C.A. & Sons, England. Please

Fishing Elephant
This plate pictures an Elephant fishing. To his left are
two seated children who are also fishing. Behind the children
is a standing man who is probably the Elephant's Keeper.
The plate was made by C. A .& Sons (Charles Allerton) 1890-1912.
The plate is 7 1/4" in diameter and is in excellent condition.
